Catalysing Change Through Hyper-Local Crisis Response
Resilio Fund is transforming how the world responds to crises by centering local communities, the true first and best responders in times of disaster.
A collaborative philanthropic initiative to change how the world responds to crises.
Traditional humanitarian systems, while well-meaning, can be slow, inefficient, and disempowering, and risk creating dependency without reducing future vulnerabilities. By contrast, Resilio Fund gets behind what local people are already doing to help each other. The approach gives grants to local NGOs who then give trust-based micro-grants to hyper-local community groups that are already taking action. This approach, sometimes known as survivor- and community-led crisis response (sclr), has proven to be fast, effective, efficient, and to support the agency, dignity, psychological recovery, and long-term resilience of those impacted by disasters.
Mission
To fund, support, and champion community-led humanitarian response.
Vision
A world where communities in crisis are purposefully supported to help each other survive, recover and build a future in which they can thrive.
Our Approach
Resilio Fund operates through three interconnected pillars designed to ignite, invest in, and influence community-led crisis responses:
I. Ignite
In regions where support to community-led approaches is nascent, Resilio Fund provides hands-on support, training, and funding to national partners, enabling them to adopt and refine these models.
II. Invest
In areas where survivor-and community-led crisis response systems and networks are already established, Resilio Fund invests further in order to demonstrate (and learn from) the approach at scale.
III. Influence
Beyond direct interventions, the Resilio Fund seeks to influence the broader humanitarian sector by sharing evidence, learning, and best practices. The goal is to inspire greater investment and systemic change in how crises are responded to globally.
CEO Recruitment
We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Chief Executive to lead the Resilio Fund through its exciting launch phase and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to lead an innovative fund that challenges conventional humanitarian aid models and champions local crisis responses.
The closing date for this recruitment is now passed.
Anchor Donors
This is your opportunity to help reshape the future of global crisis response. By partnering with the Resilio Fund, you are not just funding aid—you are empowering local communities to lead their own recovery and build lasting resilience. Together, we can catalyse a revolutionary shift in how the world responds to crises.
About Legatum
Backed by the Legatum Foundation’s $10M commitment and proven expertise in collaborative Funds, and with Anchor Donors joining soon, Resilio Fund builds on successful local response efforts in countries like Myanmar, Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia, and the Philippines, demonstrating the power of localised, community-led response.
Resilio Fund aims to demonstrate (and further develop) ways of supporting community-led disaster response at a scale that will influence mainstream humanitarian practice. It will thus serve not only to provide rapid response support and long-term resilience building to some of the most vulnerable populations in the world, it will also operate as a catalyst to change the international humanitarian system and the mindset behind it.
